On the 22nd February, Propeller is hosting Propeller Take Off in partnership with London College of Communication. The event is aimed at both students and young people in public relations that are looking to kickstart their career and build their network.
There’s no clear career path into PR. Many of those in the industry didn’t study it at university and even for those that did, it can be quite a leap between public relations education and actual occupational practise. This can leave people feeling lost, with little to no network and without the skills to launch their careers properly.
Propeller Take Off has been put together to bridge this gap and guide young PR practitioners through what can often be a daunting time. The event is made up of a panel which will be chaired by John Harrington, Deputy Editor of PRWeek, who will be joined by Elijah Lawal, UK & Ireland PR Manager at Google UK, Sarah Stimson, CEO at the Taylor Bennett Foundation, Charlotte Tobin, founder of Belle PR and Propeller’s own Laura Lovejoy, Senior Account Executive.
Each panelist will discuss their route into PR and the challenges they faced on the way as well as the best ways ways to approach journalists, tips for getting your first job and how to build a network that will take you throughout your whole career.
The event will be followed by networking where the panelists will be available to answer any additional questions from the audience.
