We have a laugh at Propeller, especially the night we hosted our first industry comedy evening raising money for New Horizon Youth Centre. NHYC help those aged 16–24 who are in education or employment yet are still unable to afford rent prices in the capital city and are a truly inspirational team. We were delighted to work with them and Havas London (who kindly offered their theatre for the evening) to put on this event.
Compered by Propeller’s very own Ali Woods, the night got off to a lively start with a few audience members thoroughly committing to the boozy stereotype of ‘Media Thursdays’ but these were expertly handled by Woods and the show began with the room buzzing. Acts included two working copywriters: Andrea Hubert and Fred Barber who lived up to their titles as they had witty and dark humour in abundance, and the wonderful headliner Helen Bauer who is a force of nature with hilarious delivery which barely gave the audience time to breathe between laughs.
Using the new Purple Pot machines, the audience were able to easily donate via contactless payments as they left. This resulted in a total sum of £500 being raised on the night which we were incredibly proud and delighted to give to a fantastic cause!
