The VR Turbine hosted by Propeller and Essence Digital was a popular night for those interested in the potential of virtual reality.
Our expert panel included Framestore’s Karl Woolley, Founding Director of TRM&C Tamara Sword, Thomas Cook’s Kudzai Manungo, Rebellion’s Jason Kingsley and Shahid Ahmad, an ex-Sony director of strategic content. They were chaired by Michael Rundle, editor of Wired.co.uk.
VR demonstrations were also stationed around the room for the audience to try virtual reality first hand. These were provided by games developers Rebellion, VR news content company Immersiv.ly, Oscar-winning VFX designers Framestore and VR production company Visualise. A wide range of virtual experiences were on offer, from battling tanks to being in the middle of a protest.
With a roomful of people interested and engaged with VR, the night was an invigorating exchange of ideas on perhaps the most exciting technological advance of 2016.
